About Awira Castor Oil – Cold Pressed – For Stronger Hair, Skin & Nails

Awira Castor Oil – Cold Pressed – For Stronger Hair, Skin & Nails Castor oil, derived from the seeds of Ricinus communis, is a vegetable oil with medicinal properties that is used in a variety of preparations. It is a pale yellow colour. Palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, ricinoleic acid, and linolenic acid are all found in castor oil. Brazil, India, and China are the major producers of castor oil. India accounts for roughly 90% of global castor oil exports.

Castor oil is a vegetable oil derived from castor beans. In recent years, it has almost become a buzzword. Castor oil can be purchased simply by seeing it listed as an ingredient in skincare or haircare products. This is not without reason, of course. Castor oil has numerous health benefits, ranging from constipation relief to improved skin and hair health.

The castor plant originated in Ethiopia, East Africa. However, it is now found in a variety of tropical and temperate climates around the world. The use of castor oil dates back to ancient Egypt, where the ancient Egyptians used it to protect their eyes from irritation.  Furthermore, castor oil lamps were very popular.

Types of Castor Oil

There are two types of castor oil: black castor oil and yellow castor oil.

Black castor oil is produced by roasting castor beans. As a result of the roasting process, residue ashes are produced. These ashes are combined with the extracted oil, causing it to turn black. They are added by cosmetologists to hair care products for thick or dry hair. The alkaline value of black castor oil is higher than that of the other type.
Yellow castor oil, on the other hand, is produced by cold pressing castor beans. This version contains only castor oil. The pH of this oil is lower than that of black castor oil.
